This is an outdoor event.
- Entry fee for the Great Coyote Melon Contest is $1 per
entry. There is no fee for Junior division entries.
- Only one entry per class. (See classes below).
- All entries must consist solely of coyote melons, buffalo
gourds, etc. (Cucurbita digitata, Cucurbita palmata, or
Cucurbita foetidissima. )
- Divisions are as follows: Beginner, Advanced & Junior
(under 14 years of age). Any contestant who has not previously
won a prize in any category will be considered a beginner.
- Entries must be submitted by 11:00 AM on Saturday, Sept.
19. Judging will take place immediately following. Ribbons will
be awarded to first place winners in each category. In addition,
the judging panel will select one entry to receive the Judges
Trophy, as well as awards for Most Patriotic, Most Original, and
Most Unusual. There will also be a People's Choice Award.
Criteria for these awards will be at the sole discretion of the
judges. In the event there are insufficient entries in a given
division, the judges reserve the right to award prizes at their
discretion.
- Entries may be picked up after 3:00PM, Sunday, Sept. 20.
I.D. will be required!
- Judges may not enter the competition.
- While every effort will be made to safeguard entries, the
sponsors of this event can not be responsible for any damage to
entries and will not be liable for any damages or contract
failures whatsoever caused by weather, natural causes, acts of
God, or any other conditions beyond the control of the sponsors,
etc.
